No. 25 Broncos Sweep Lumberjacks Friday

POMONA – The 25th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona volleyball cruised to a convincing 3-0 victory (25-16, 25-18, 25-12) over visiting Cal Poly Humboldt Friday evening at Kellogg Arena in Pomona.
 
The Broncos have won nine straight matches, rising to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the CCAA. The Lumberjacks fell to 1-5 (0-3 CCAA).
 
CPP led from start to finish in the opening frame, was met with resistance in the second set before pulling away late, then closed out the sweep with a 13-point win in the third.
 
Daisy Duke led the Broncos with nine kills and a .615 hitting percentage, Samantha Campion chipped in with eight kills, Kaitlan Tucker with seven and Madison Novak with six. Caitie Mueller spread out the offense with 29 assists to go along with a match-high 10 digs defensively. Avery Percival served three aces from the line while Mackenzie Sullivan and Jenna O'Shea each had two apiece.
 
As a team, CPP hit .386 (36-9-70) while holding Humboldt to just .047 (25-21-86).
 
The Lumberjacks' Avery McIntyre led her squad with nine kills on 14 attacks and one error.
 
Cal Poly Pomona will wrap up its three-match homestand with a Saturday matinee, hosting Sonoma State at 2:00 pm in Kellogg Arena.
 
Bronco Bits: Head coach Traci Dahl moves to 42-22 in her fourth year (third season) at Cal Poly Pomona, including 32-6 the last two seasons … The Broncos are now 31-4 all-time against Cal Poly Humboldt (13-2 at home), having won the last six matchups overall … It is the fifth time in program history that the Broncos have gone 9-1 or better through the first 10 matches of a season … Ranked in the Top 25 this week at No. 25, CPP is now 270-163 as a nationally-ranked team since 1986 … As a program, CPP is now 761-530 all-time, including 291-158 in home matches and 371-295 in conference play since the program's inception in 1980 … CPP is now 312-204 in three-set matches all-time.
