No. 12 Broncos Shutout Wildcats, 2-0

CHICO, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos traveled to Chico to take on the Chico State Wildcats. The Broncos tight defense forced a shutout against the Wildcats, winning 2-0.
 
In the 44th minute, midfielder Sam Lena found midfielder Mikey Sedano to put the Broncos up in the first half, 1-0. The final goal of the match came from Lena as he scored in the 71st minute. The Broncos defeated the Wildcats, 2-0. CPP now has an overall record of 6-1-2 and a CCAA record of 2-0-1.
 
The Broncos controlled the ball and took 15 shots on the game against Chico States six. Goalkeeper CJ Walker had two saves on 90 minutes of play. This is CPP's sixth shutout on the season.
 
Defender Thomas Guei led the Broncos in shots as he took three shots on the game and had one shot on goal. Forward Jerry Ramirez also collected three shots on the game. Midfielder Woody Angell took two shots on the game with one shot on goal.
 
"The group was fantastic today, said coach Matt O'Sullivan. "It's a very hard field to play on and we mixed it up. We were tough on the defensive end. It was nice that everyone played a part in our performance."
 
Coach O'Sullivan continued, "We will need to recover quickly as it's a fast turnaround for a tricky test at a well-organized and high energy Humboldt team."
 
CPP's next match is Sunday, October 2nd against Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata with kickoff set for 11:30 am.
