Broncos Tie No. 16 Chico State

CHICO, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos traveled to take on the No. 16 Chico State Wildcats. Both teams were unable to score, and the game ended in a tie, 0-0.
 
The Broncos put the offensive pressure on the Wildcats as they took 14 shots against Chico States nine shots on the game. Goalkeeper Audrey Brown collected four saves on the game.
 
Forward Tara Oper tallied five shots and had two shots on goal. Midfielder Marisa Salazar took two shots both of which were shots on goal. Midfielder Nicolle Villarreal also had two shots and two shots on goal. Forward Allyssa Larkin also collected two shots on the game.
 
CPP's next match is Sunday, October 2nd against Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata with kickoff set for 2:00 pm.
 
"Really proud of the team's fight today against a very good Chico State team," said coach Jay Mason. "Getting a point on the road is always a positive result. I felt like we responded well in challenging moments today, but we need to dial in some key details on both ends of the field. Looking forward to a day of recovery and prep for another tough CCAA matchup."
 
Bronco Bits: Head coach Jay Mason moves to 46-37-17 in his seventh year (sixth season) at Cal Poly Pomona and 27-20-15 against CCAA opponents … The Broncos are now 180-138-51 in conference matches … CPP is 13-19-6 against CSUC and has tied during their last to matchups.
