POMONA – Sophomore forward
Caleb Nelson scored career high 21 points in the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos defeat of the Sonoma State Seawolves, 57-55, in Kellogg Arena Saturday evening.
The Broncos improve their overall record to 9-6 and 6-5 in the CCAA conference. The Seawolves record falls to 8-10 overall and 7-5 CCAA.
The largest lead the Broncos had was 21 points with 3:15 left on the clock in the first half. Heading into the locker room, CPP led the Seawolves with the score at 44-30.
The Seawolves slowly made their way back into the game taking their first and only lead with 3:32 on the clock with the score 54-53. Back and forth at the line, the Broncos edged out SSU, 57-55.
Leading all scorers was SSU's Jaylen Wells who scored 24 points and had eight rebounds and four assists on the game.
Nelson led the Broncos in points as he scored his career high 21 points and had nine rebounds, one block, and one steal. For the fourth time in a row scoring 10+ points, freshman guard
Shyheim Parm scored 13 points and had five rebounds and two assists on the game.
The Broncos' next game is Thursday, January 26th as they take on the Cal State San Marcos in San Marcos, with tip-off set for 7:30 pm.
