SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos were unable to catch the Cougars, falling to Cal State San Marcos, 70-44.
This loss ends the Broncos two game winning streak, taking their overall record to 9-7 and CCAA conference record to 6-6. The Cougars improve their record to 11-7 and 10-4 CCAA.
CSUSM shot 27 of 58 (46.6%) from the field against CPP's 12 of 50 (24%) on the game. The Cougars defense kept the entire Broncos roster from scoring over ten points individually.
CPP scored 21 bench points and 13 fastbreak points forcing 10 turnovers on the game. CSUSM dominated the paint scoring 28 points against the Broncos 18 points from down low.
Leading the Broncos in points was sophomore guard
Brase Dottin and freshman forward
Malachi Murrell who each had nine points on the game, respectively. Freshman guard
Shyheim Parm closed the game with seven points, two rebounds, and one steal.
The Broncos' next game is Saturday, January 28th as they take on the Cal State LA Golden Eagles in Los Angeles, with tip-off set for 3:00 pm.
