Last Second Shot Puts CSULA Over the Broncos, 65-63

POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos' freshman guard Shyheim Parm scored 17 points, had five assists and five rebounds, in the close loss to the Cal State LA Golden Eagles, 65-63.
 
In the CCAA's fifth and sixth seed matchup, there was a total of 11 lead changes and three ties. The Broncos closed the first half with a 14-point lead, 39-25. CPP out rebounded the Golden Eagles 42-26 and scored 26 points against CSULA's 10 points from the paint.
 
The Broncos held the lead 63-59 with 3:25 remaining on the game. With 38 seconds on the clock, the Golden Eagles scored a single free throw to tie the game 63-63. After a missed layup by CPP, CSULA's Shane Bell scored a jumper on the fast break to win the game for the Golden Eagles, 65-63.
 
With this loss, CPP takes their overall record to 6-4 and CCAA record to 3-3. At the closing of today's competitions, the Broncos are now in seventh place in the CCAA standings.
 
Parm led CPP in points as he collected 17 points, shooting 3-4 from three-point range. Sophomore gaurd Jaden Winfield collected 14 points, three assists, and four rebounds. Sophomore forward Caleb Nelson neared a double-double as he scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds on the game.
 
The Broncos' next game is Saturday, January 7th as they take on Cal State San Marcos in Kellogg Arena, with tip-off set for 3:00 pm.
