POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos had nine student-athletes put points on the board as the Broncos won in Kellogg Arena against the Cal State San Marcos Cougars, 57-46.
Chris Gayles Jr. took the lead for the Broncos as he was first on the board with a layup with 17:35 on the clock in the first half. CPP held this lead for the entirety of the game. The Broncos shot an impressive 92.9% from the free throw line, sinking 13 of 14 shots.
The largest lead held by the Broncos was 14 points as they scored 17 bench points on the game against CSUSM's five bench points. As a team CPP collected 33 rebounds, 12 assists, and eight steals on the game.
This win breaks a three-game skid for the Broncos, taking their overall record to 7-4 and 4-3 in the CCAA conference.
The Broncos had nine student-athletes with points on the stat sheet.
Caleb Nelson scored 11 points, grabbed three rebounds, and two blocks tying the season high in a single game.
Jaden Winfield scored 11 points shooting 4-8 from the field (1-1 in three pointers). Gayles Jr. scored eight points on the game and had three rebounds and one steal.
The Broncos' next game is Thursday, January12th as they take on Chico State in Chico, with tip-off set for 7:30 pm.
