ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos battled in tough loss against the Sonoma State Seawolves in Rohnert Park Thursday night, 60-50.
This loss takes the Broncos overall record to 11-12 and CCAA conference record to 8-11. The Seawolves record improves to 11-14 overall and 10-9 CCAA.
In the first half of the game the lead exchanged four times. The Broncos held their largest lead of seven points with the score 27-20 when SSU went on a 12-2 run to close the half with the lead, 32-29.
The Seawolves made 17 of 19 free throws they attempted on the game against the Broncos 10 of 12 free throws shot. SSU also grabbed 38 rebounds against CPP's 26. The Broncos scored 21 bench points and eight fast break points.
Sonoma State's Jaylen Wells closed the game with 30 points, leading the Seawolves past the Broncos, 60-50.
Leading the Broncos in points was sophomore guard
Jaden Winfield who scored 12 points and had five rebounds and one assist on the game. Winfield shot five for twelve from the field in his 35 minutes of play. Freshman forward
Derrick Claxton scored 11 points on the game, shooting 57.1 percent from the floor.
The Broncos' continue their road trip with a game Saturday, February 18th as they take on the Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks in Arcata, with tip-off set for 7:30 pm.
