ARCATA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos freshman guard
Bam Johnson scored 16 points in their comeback victory against the Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks, 86-78.
This win takes the Broncos overall record to 12-12 and CCAA conference record to 9-11. The Lumberjacks fall to a record of 12-14 overall and 10-10. CPP will host their final two games in the conference season next week in Kellogg Arena.
The Lumberjacks held the lead for the entire first half of the game, including their largest lead of 11 points. HUM hit 14 of 25 from the field, shooting 56.0 percent as the Broncos were shot 12 of 34 for 35.3 percent from the field in the first half. Heading into the locker rooms the Lumberjacks were in the lead, 41-35.
To start the second half the Broncos went on 9-2 run to take the lead for the first time in the game, 44-43. The lead was exchanged for a total of three times in the second half. Johnson and freshman guard
Shyheim Parm scored 11 of their points in the second half to lead the Broncos to their largest lead of 11 points.
The Lumberjacks could not with stand CPP's defensive pressure as the Broncos had 10 steals and scored 29 points from turnovers to take the comeback victory against the Lumberjacks, 86-78.
Leading the Broncos in points was Johnson who scored 16 points and had four rebounds and two assists. Parm tallied 15 points on the game shooting five for 10 from the field. Freshman forward

The Broncos close out CCAA regular season competition with two home games next week. Next up, CPP faces the Stanislaus State Warriors on Thursday, February 23
