Parm Scores 22 In Close Loss to Stan State, 70-67

POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos fell just three points short against the Stanislaus State Warriors Thursday night in Kellogg Arena, 70-67.
 
This loss takes the Broncos overall record to 12-13 and CCAA conference record to 9-12. The Warriors improve their record to 10-18 and 8-13 CCAA. Each team has one more regular season conference game this Saturday.
 
The Warriors started the game with a 19-2, shooting 53.3 percent from the field hitting four of twelve from beyond the arc. STAN closed the first half of the game with the lead, 38-26.
 
The Broncos came back firing in the second half going on a 15-5 run to take the score to 45-41 with 14:12 on the game clock. The remainder of the game was an exchange of buckets and free throws between CPP and the Warriors. In the second half alone, the Broncos shot eight for twelve from the free throw line.
 
Although the Broncos shot 50.0 percent from the field in the second half, they were unable to top STAN, falling 70-67.
 
Leading the Broncos in points was freshman guard Shyheim Parm who scored 22 points, hitting an impressive five of eight from three-point range. Sophomore guard Chris Gayles Jr. scored 14 points and had two rebounds, two assists, and two steals on the game.
 
The Broncos close the CCAA regular conference season this Saturday at 3:00 pm as they take on the Chico State Wildcats in Kellogg Arena.
