Broncos Crush Warriors Thursday At Home, 78-52

POMONA – Led by a 23-point performance by Ally Bates, the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team cruised to a convincing 78-52 victory over Stanislaus State on Thursday evening at Kellogg Arena.
 
The Broncos rise to 16-9 overall and 13-8 in the CCAA. The Warriors stumble to 6-21 (2-19 CCAA).
 
CPP led from start to finish, and in double-digits for the majority of the contest. It would get up to as much as a 27-point lead when Bates hit a pair of free throws with 9:18 left in the fourth quarter.
 
Bates scored her tally on 7 of 10 shooting, including five three-pointers, and adding a team-high 10 rebounds. Kalaya Buggs also scored in double-digits, dropping in 11 points with five rebounds and five assists. Donja Payne returned from injury to contribute eight points off the bench in 11 minutes of action. Alicia Jones also put up eight points while Chynna Cochran had seven points, and both Breanne Ha and Keke Scott each with six points. Ciara James tied for a team-high in rebounds with nine rebounds.
 
For the Warriors, Makayla Rose was the only Stanislaus State player in double-figures, netting 21 points.
 
As a team, the Broncos connected on 43.1 percent of its shots (25 of 58). The Warriors were just 30.2 percent (19 of 63), including just 2 of 20 from three-point range and 12 of 20 from the free throw line.
 
Cal Poly Pomona will wrap up the regular season Saturday at 1:00 pm when it hosts Chico State. It will also be Senior Day on Saturday and three CPP seniors will be honored in a special pregame ceremony – Ally Bates, Ciara James and Chynna Cochran.
