USTFCCCA NATIONAL INDEX RATINGS RELEASE
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Cal Poly Pomona men's track and field team is ranked fifth in week one of the 2023 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Rating Index, it was announced Tuesday.
Up to this point into the season, the Broncos have eight student-athletes who are nationally ranked in the top-10 in their respective events and have a total of 10 provisional marks.
Junior
Ryan Fields is ranked fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 47.27, eighth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.17, and fourth in the 400 meter hurdles (51.51).
Nnamdi Onwaeze is right behind fields in the 110 meter hurdles as he is ranked ninth nationally in the event. With his performance at the Mangrum Invite,
Chris Razo is ranked ninth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:10.11.
Also at the Mangrum Invite,
Kailen Smith and
Justin Cardoza cleared 6' 8.25" in the high jump tying for 12
th place on the national rankings. Closing out the event,
Matteo Madrassi cleared 16' 10.75" in the pole vault event and is now ranked fourth nationally.
The Broncos 4x100 team of
Bryce Bushnell,
Lorenzo Boyd,
Joshua Johnson, and Fields broke the school record and are ranked ninth nationally with a time of 40.57.
The Broncos next meets are at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, the West Coast Relays, and Vince O'Boyle Classic held through March 30th-April 1st.
