POMONA, Calif. - In an exhilarating CCAA Conference opener, the nationally ranked Cal Poly Pomona Broncos showcased their resilience and skill, overcoming an early setback to secure a commanding 3-1 victory against the visiting Gators. The match, held at the Broncos' home field, kicked off with unexpected intensity as the Gators struck first, taking the lead just 11 minutes into the game.
However, the Broncos quickly regrouped and began to dominate possession. Their efforts paid off at 23:31 when Liberty Ortiz found the back of the net, leveling the score and obtaining her first goal of the season.
In the second half, the Broncos continued to press the advantage. At 59:58, Vanessa Cruz scored her 5th goal of the season, putting the Broncos ahead 2-1. The Broncos' relentless attack was further rewarded when Lavinia Vaipulu scored the final goal at 70:28, sealing the match with a confident 3-1 lead.
