CARSON, Calif. – For the ninth time in program history, and the fourth time in as many seasons, Cal Poly Pomona volleyball's winning streak has reached an even 10 straight games. Impressively, six of the program's nine longest winning streaks have come since the 2018 season, all with Head Coach
Traci Dahl on the coaching staff.
With the 3-1 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills (21-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-16) on Saturday, the Broncos improve to 12-4 overall on the season and remain a perfect 10-0 in conference play.
Senior libero
Kaden Young eclipsed the 1,000-career dig mark on Saturday, recording 12 digs in the win. The Sonoma State transfer logged 808 digs while playing for the Seawolves from 2022-24, and has added an impressive 197 to that total since donning the Green & Gold. Young currently ranks Top 10 in the CCAA in both service aces (0.41 per set) and digs (3.23 per set).
Setter
Kacie Caoili delivered one of her better performances of her freshman campaign, with 52 assists and added a season-high 17 digs.
Sarah Ybarra had yet another double-double with a team-leading 25 kills on an efficient .432 hitting percentage, adding 15 digs, while
Elle Walker added 17 kills and two blocks.
After dropping the opening set 25–21, the Broncos settled into rhythm behind Ybarra's steady hitting. The Broncos hit .405 in the second frame, highlighted by a 9–3 run that turned an early 8–3 deficit into a 12-11 advantage. With the set tied 19-19, the Broncos rattled off five straight points to ultimately take set two and even the match.
The third set featured nine ties and two lead changes as both sides traded lengthy rallies. Down 23–20, CPP surged to the finish line with kills by
Charlotte Koerber and Walker, as well as three attack errors by the Toros, to close set three at 25–23.
The Broncos took control early in the fourth, jumping to a commanding 12-2 lead. Cal Poly Pomona never trailed in the frame, closing out their 10
th straight victory on a kill by Walker. Koerber finished with 12 kills and seven digs on the afternoon, while both
Alexia Athans and
Anastacia Garza contributed four kills and five blocks. As a team, the Broncos hit .286 while converting 62% of sideouts.
