POMONA, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona volleyball fell to Stanislaus State in a five-set thriller (25-13, 25-20, 21-25, 18-25, 7-15) Saturday afternoon in Kellogg Arena. Before the game, the team honored their five seniors:
Kaden Young,
Catherine Conlisk,
Emeline Hudson,
Hanna Schneider, and
Sophie Biehler.
Â
The Broncos came out strong, dominating the opening two sets behind a balanced offensive attack led by
Emeline Hudson, who tallied a career-high 18 kills, and
Charlotte Koerber, who added 15 kills and 12 digs. Setter
Kacie Caoili directed the offense with 46 assists, while libero
Kaden Young anchored the defense with a season-high 27 digs.
Â
Cal Poly Pomona opened the afternoon with a commanding 25-13 first-set win, highlighted by an 11-3 surge featuring kills from Koerber, Hudson, and
Anastacia Garza. The Broncos continued their momentum in the second set, fending off multiple Stanislaus rallies as
Alexia Athans' late kills sealed a 25-20 victory.
Â
Momentum shifted in the third as Stanislaus State steadied its attack, capitalizing on Bronco errors to steal a 25-21 win despite Hudson's five kills in the frame. The Warriors carried that energy into the fourth, using key service runs to even the match 2-2.
Â
In the decisive fifth set, CPP fell behind early and struggled to catch up. Stanislaus ended the match on a 9-2 run, marking the first and only conference loss of the season for Cal Poly Pomona. Despite the setback, the Broncos finish the regular season as back-to-back conference champions, tying the school record with 17 conference wins.
