Efficient Shooting Lifts Cal Poly Pomona to Road Win at Stanislaus State

TURLOCK, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona closed out the 2025 calendar year with another statement road win Sunday night, outlasting Stanislaus State 93-88 to improve to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in CCAA play. The Broncos remained perfect away from home at 6-0, turning in their highest-scoring performance of the season behind exceptional shooting efficiency.

CPP set the tone early, opening the game with crisp ball movement and confident perimeter shooting. Jake Goldberg knocked down an early three, while Malcolm Bell, Demarreya Lewis-Cooper, and Zach Broadous attacked the paint to build an early cushion. The Broncos shot nearly 70 percent in the first half and used transition opportunities to push the lead as high as 14. Although Stanislaus State responded late, Pomona carried a 50-40 advantage into halftime.

The Warriors made several pushes in the second half, trimming the margin with timely three-pointers and fast-break scores, but the Broncos consistently answered. Bell and Kevin Simeth finished strong around the rim, while Lewis-Cooper and Edric Dennis connected from beyond the arc to keep CPP in control. Each Stanislaus State run was met with a composed response, allowing Pomona to maintain a multi-possession lead for much of the half.

A key stretch came in the final minutes as the Warriors cut the deficit to five, but the Broncos remained poised. Bell converted crucial free throws and capped the night with a late basket at the rim, while CPP's defense forced turnovers to run out the clock and secure the win.
