A Dozen Straight, Win Streak Continues Against Cougars

POMONA, Calif. – Women's basketball won their 12th straight game on Saturday afternoon, rolling past Cal State San Marcos 81-47 at Kellogg Arena to remain unbeaten in conference play. The Broncos improve to 13-1 overall and 8-0 in CCAA action, while also remaining undefeated at home with a 7-0 record.
 
Cal Poly Pomona opened the game on a 17-3 run, holding the Cougars to just one field goal in the first quarter. The Broncos' defensive pressure forced turnovers and fueled transition opportunities, while crisp ball movement led to high-percentage looks inside. By halftime, CPP had built a commanding 44-16 advantage, outscoring CSUSM 27-13 in the second quarter alone.
 
Freshman Madison Eade led the Broncos with a game-high 14 points to go along with four rebounds, shooting .500 from the field and going 2-for-2 at the line. Sydney Nelson and Andrea Stajic each added 13 points, finishing efficiently around the basket and contributing on both ends of the floor. Hunter Hudson anchored the interior with nine points and a team-high 14 rebounds, providing second-chance opportunities and controlling the glass. Hudson currently leads the team with 95 rebounds on the season, ranking Top 10 in the CCAA.
 
Brielle Minor orchestrated the offense with nine assists, helping Cal Poly Pomona finish with 19 assists on 30 field goals. Minor has recorded an incredible 39 assists in her past four games, as her 67 on the season ranks 11th-best in the nation. CPP's depth was also on full display, as the bench accounted for 33 points.
 
The Broncos continued to extend the lead in the second half, pushing the margin to as many as 35 points in the fourth quarter. Cal Poly Pomona finished the game shooting 42.9 percent from the field while holding Cal State San Marcos to 26.6 percent, a testament to the team's disciplined defense and rebounding effort.
 
 
Up Next
The Broncos will play Cal State San Bernardino twice next week, once at home and once on the road. The home game will take place this coming Thursday, January 15th, at 5:30 PM in Kellogg Arena.
