No. 5 Broncos Remain Unbeaten With Scoreless Tie at Chico State

CHICO, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer extended its unbeaten start to 10 matches with a scoreless tie against Chico State. The Broncos moved to 5-0-5 overall and 2-0-3 in CCAA play.

CPP controlled the attack in the opening half, out shooting the Wildcats 8-5 and placing two attempts on goal. Carly Radke forced a save in the 13th minute before Bailey Guerrero put another shot on frame in the 35th minute. The Broncos also earned two first-half corner kicks.

The Broncos continued creating opportunities after halftime. Georgia Rink tested the goalkeeper in the 66th minute, and Guerrero followed with another impressive shot on goal later. Kailey Powers added an attempt in the 69th minute, while Guerrero had a shot blocked in the 81st.

Guerrero and Radke led CPP with three shots apiece. Guerrero placed two of her attempts on target, while Radke recorded one shot on goal. Rink added two shots, including one on frame, and Braedyn Kincade, Mikaela Marr, Charlie Gallardo and Powers each contributed an attempt.

CPP finished with a 12-7 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in shots on goal. The Broncos also earned four corner kicks while allowing only one and controlled 53 percent of possession.

Parker LaMont turned away the Wildcats' lone shot on goal in the 70th minute and played all 90 minutes to secure her seventh shutout of the season. The result marked CPP's third consecutive scoreless tie and kept the Broncos unbeaten.

The Broncos return to action Sunday at 11 a.m. against Cal Poly Humboldt in the first Cal Poly Clash of the season.
