LOS ANGELES - No. 10 Cal Poly Pomona volleyball battled through a five-set thriller Saturday evening at Cal State LA, but the Broncos ultimately fell 25-21, 29-31, 26-24, 19-25, 12-15 at University Gym.

Despite the result, the match featured milestone performances from seniors
Sarah Ybarra and
Renee Nachtigall. Ybarra recorded her 1,000th career kill, becoming the 10th player in Cal Poly Pomona history to reach that mark. She finished with a match-high 22 kills, three aces, and 16 digs, providing a steady offensive presence throughout the five-set contest.

Nachtigall also reached a career mark, recording her 1,000th collegiate dig. The libero entered the match with 983 digs and added 18 against the Golden Eagles, surpassing 1,000 collegiate digs when added with her 545 digs from Hartnell College.

CPP opened the match with a strong first-set performance, hitting .276 and holding a 14-11 advantage in kills to take the opener, 25-21. The Broncos then battled through a back-and-forth second set that extended beyond 25 points before Cal State LA prevailed, 31-29.

Cal Poly Pomona answered in the third, overcoming another tight finish to claim a 26-24 decision. The Broncos were unable to carry the momentum into the fourth set, as the Golden Eagles forced a deciding frame with a 25-19 victory.

The fifth set remained close, but Cal State LA used a late scoring push to complete the comeback. CPP totaled 67 kills, 86 digs, 61 assists, seven blocks, and six aces.
Charlotte Koerber added 12 kills and a team-high 21 digs,
Addi Knight contributed a career-high 16 kills and four blocks, and
Alexia Zammit posted 44 assists, 10 digs, and three blocks.

With the loss, CPP moves to 12-3 overall and 4-1 in CCAA play.
