Gallardo’s Goal Keeps Broncos Unbeaten Against No. 13 CUI

POMONA, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer responded immediately after falling behind and earned a 1-1 draw against No. 13 Concordia University Irvine at Kellogg Stadium. The result kept the No. 2 Broncos unbeaten and moved their record to 3-0-2.

CPP controlled the attack throughout the opening half, outshooting the Golden Eagles 8-2 and placing four attempts on goal. However, neither side found the net before halftime.

CUI opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, but the advantage lasted only 26 seconds. Charlie Gallardo answered with an unassisted net, scoring her first goal of the season to pull the Broncos even at 1-1.

Gallardo finished with three shots and placed two on goal. Carly Radke led the Broncos with four attempts, including three on target, while Bailey Guerrero placed both of her shots between the posts. Sabine Ramos, Georgia Rink and Kailey Powers each added two attempts as CPP generated consistent scoring opportunities.

The Broncos finished with a 17-8 advantage in shots and put nine attempts on goal compared with CUI's five. CPP also held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

Parker LaMont played 90 minutes in goal and made four saves, including three in the second half, to help preserve the tie. The Broncos remain unbeaten through their first five matches of the season as they look towards conference matches.
