WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer erased a deficit before No. 6 Midwestern State scored in the final several seconds of regulation to hand the Broncos a 2-1 loss Saturday. 

The Mustangs opened the scoring in the 37th minute, converting a penalty kick and sending CPP into halftime trailing 1-0.

The Broncos continued pushing for an equalizer and broke through in the 81st minute. Hector Arellanes drew a foul during a scramble inside the box, giving CPP a penalty kick. Marvin Gamez placed his right-footed attempt into the bottom-left corner to tie the match at 1-1. The goal was Gamez's team-leading fourth of the season. 

With eight seconds remaining, a long throw was redirected inside the box and finished from close range, lifting Midwestern State to a 2-1 victory. 

CPP outshot Midwestern State 18-17, including a 10-8 advantage in the opening half. Gamez led the Broncos with three shots and placed two on target. Jose Garcia and Nico Sanchez registered four attempts apiece, while Efren Nunez Dominguez and Jacob Ramirez each added two.

Goalkeeper Jack Chapman played all 90 minutes and made five saves. Despite the result, the Broncos challenged the unbeaten Mustangs, producing six shots on goal and seven attempts during the final 26 minutes.
