Three First-Half Goals Power No.2 Broncos Past San Francisco State, 4-1

POMONA, Calif. -  Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer scored three first-half goals en route to a dominant 4-1 victory over San Francisco State. The No. 2 Broncos improved to 5-0-2 overall and 2-0 in CCAA play.

Sabine Ramos opened the scoring in the 24th minute, finishing a pass from Ashlyn Jones. Jenna Santos doubled the advantage in the 33rd minute, converting assists from Jones and Angelina Santana to give CPP a 2-0 lead.

Bailey Guerrero extended the margin in the 40th minute, scoring off a feed from Mikaela Marr. The Broncos carried the 3-0 advantage into halftime after outshooting the Gators 12-3 and placing five attempts on goal.

CPP added its fourth goal just 53 seconds into the second half when San Francisco State conceded an own goal. The Gators scored their lone goal in the 80th minute to produce the final 4-1 score.

Jones led the Broncos' playmaking effort with two assists, while Santana and Marr each collected one. Ramos, Santos and Guerrero each recorded their first goal of the season. Guerrero placed both of her shots on target, and Marr registered three attempts and an assist.

The Broncos controlled the match with a 21-5 advantage in shots, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. CPP also earned eight corner kicks while allowing only one. Parker LaMont made two saves across 79 minutes to earn the victory before Jenna Tetrault finished the match in goal.

The win kept CPP unbeaten through seven matches and continued its perfect start to conference play.
