No. 2 Broncos Remain Unbeaten With Scoreless Tie Against UC Merced

POMONA, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer remained unbeaten after battling UC Merced to a scoreless tie at Kellogg Stadium. The No.2 Broncos moved to 5-0-3 overall and 2-0-1 in CCAA play.

CPP controlled the opening half, out shooting the Bobcats 12-3 and placing nine attempts on goal. Kailey Powers tested the goalkeeper twice early, while Carly Radke added two shots on target before the 21st minute. Braedyn Kincade, Holly Wilbanks, Georgia Rink, Jojo Valdez and Mikaela Marr put first-half attempts on frame, but UC Merced kept the match scoreless.

The Broncos continued applying pressure after halftime. Rink, Bailey Guerrero and Angelina Santana each recorded a shot on goal during the first 13 minutes of the second half. Tristan Tessier produced CPP's final attempt in the 83rd minute, sending a shot wide right.

Rink led the Broncos with two shots on goal, while Radke and Powers each recorded three attempts and placed two on frame. CPP finished with a 16-7 advantage in shots, including a commanding 12-5 edge in shots on goal. The Broncos also earned four corner kicks and controlled 57% of possession.

Goalkeeper Parker LaMont played all 90 minutes and made five saves to record her fourth shutout of the season. She stopped three shots in the opening half before adding two saves after the break, including a key stop in the 85th minute.

Despite being held scoreless for the first time this season, CPP continuted its unbeaten start through eight matches and earned another point in conference play.
