POMONA, Calif. – As Tuesday's 2-0 win over Fresno Pacific boosts the Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team to a 12-0-1 mark on the 2014 season, the No. 8 ranked Broncos travel to San Francisco State to take on the Gators at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
In the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), the Broncos hold a 6-0 record and remain in sole possession of first place. The Gators own a 5-5-2 overall tally and have registered a 1-4-1 in conference play.
Tuesday's win marked two special milestones for the CPP squad, as the shutout marked both the program record tying 12th win and the record tying 9th shutout.
As a team, the Broncos remain at the top of the team goals against average and the won-lost-tied percentage categories on the NCAA Division II statistical standings, and are a very close second in the overall save percentage.
Individually, members of the CPP squad hold the total assists, goals against average, save percentage, and are second in the assists per game categories.
The Gators have remained competitive this season as all but two of their games have been decided by a margin of only one goal.
Taking a look at the all-time series between the two programs, the Broncos hold a 14-6-4 edge over San Francisco. The last time the two teams met at Cox Stadium at SFSU was in 2012 and the Gators secured a 2-1 win over the Broncos.
After the matchup against SFSU, CPP will move on to Monterey Bay as they take on the Otters at the Otter Sports Complex, at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
In the same fashion as the Gators, the Otters have amassed a 1-4-1 record in the CCAA.
CSUMB will be hosting the Broncos after they host the UC San Diego Tritons on Friday.
