CPP to Host Cal State LA on Senior Night

POMONA, Calif. - As the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) regular season enters its final week, the Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team will play its final conference game on Thursday at 7 p.m. against the No. 5 Golden Eagles of Cal State L.A.

CPP holds a 12-4 overall tally heading into the matchup, which includes a 7-3 CCAA record. The Broncos currently have a streak of six-consecutive shutout victories, and Sunday's 1-0 win over Sonoma State gave the 2014 CPP squad the program record for that streak. The victory clinched them a spot in the CCAA playoffs as well.

CSULA has also put together an impressive season. The Golden Eagles' 4-0 win over Cal State East Bay on Sunday secured the CCAA regular season title, as well as pushed them to an undefeated 9-0-1 in conference. Their season boasts a 14-1-2 record.

The Broncos' offense has racked up 26 goals in the 16 games they have played while also limiting their opponents to just 10 goals. Eleven of the matches that CPP has played have resulted in a shutout for the adversary.

CPP's offense has outscored visitors to Kellogg Field a total of 18-4.

Last week's win over the Seawolves marked the fourth time this season that the Broncos have earned a win over a nationally-ranked opponent.

Thursday night will be the final home conference game for five Bronco seniors. Indra Arteaga, Alison Sauve, Arika Ontiveros, Allie Maxwell, and Hannah Leu will be defending Kellogg Field from their CCAA opposition for the final time. CSULA will be celebrating 12 seniors as it will be their final conference match as well.

Playoff Picture
In looking at the postseason picture, the top six qualifying CCAA teams will advance to the conference tournament. Cal State L.A. will be joined by another top team with first-round byes, while the other four teams play at campus sites this Sunday. The CCAA semifinal and final rounds will be played in Turlock, Calif., on Nov. 7 and Nov. 9.

The NCAA.com selection show will air on Nov. 10 and that'll include an announcement of the six D-II West Region teams in the NCAA Tournament field.
