CPP Resumes Homestand Tuesday vs. Mustangs

POMONA, Calif. – The nationally-ranked Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team will return to the court on Tuesday at 7 p.m. as the Broncos will host The Master's College at Kellogg Gym.

After a tough loss to UC San Diego Saturday in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opener, the Broncos will be looking to bounce back with a win while aiming to keep their undefeated non-conference record intact.

Heading into Tuesday's matchup against the Mustangs, the CPP squad holds a 2-1 overall record. The Mustangs have also secured a 2-1 record in the 2014-15 campaign.

Senior guard Terrence Drisdom has led the Broncos' offense with a scoring average of 21.7 through the first three games, ranking second among CCAA players. Drisdom has also earned 13 steals, which ties the amount that Bronco opponents have totaled.

Drisdom and fellow senior Daniel Rodriguez have matched each other from three-point range, each going 5-for-9 from beyond the arc this season. Rodriguez is averaging 13.3 points per game. At the free throw line, Drisdom has gone 16-for-22, which leads CPP in that category as well.

A native of Lake Forest, junior Jordan Faison is the Broncos' frontrunner in defensive rebounds with 13 thus far. Barry Bell paves the way for CPP in the assists category, averaging 5.0 per contest to rank second on the CCAA leaderboard.

So far in the 2014-15 season, CPP has secured wins over Westmont and Azusa Pacific. The home opener against Westmont saw the Broncos walk away with a 85-62 win. The next night, the Broncos outdueled Azusa for a 81-78 overtime win. Due to his performance in those two games, Drisdom earned the CCAA Player of the Week honor.

In the all-time series with the Mustangs, the two teams sit at an even 4-4 record. The two teams met early last season as The Master's College edged the Broncos, 71-70.

After Tuesday's game, the Broncos will shift their attention to the final contest of the homestand - a Saturday 7 p.m. matchup against Point Loma. The Sea Lions are 4-0 so far in 2014-15.
