WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Announced on Wednesday, the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Fall All-Academic teams feature 33 Cal Poly Pomona student-athletes - the highest total among CCAA institutions.
Â
This year marks the first in which the Conference has recognized individuals academically per-season. The remaining CCAA sponsored sports -- basketball, men's golf, softball, baseball, and track & field -- will be recognized at the conclusion of their 2014-15 seasons of competition.
Â
All athletes named to the 2014 CCAA Fall All-Academic team met the following criteria:
1) Student-athletes shall be of sophomore athletic standing or higher, and may include graduate students.
2)Â Student-athletes must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA or better.
3) Student-athletes must have competed in a Conference-sponsored sport in that season.
Â
Among the Broncos' 33 honorees, 12 belong to the women's soccer program. Just recently, the CPP women's soccer squad received a 2013-14 Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
Â
The CCAA Fall All-Academic list featured seven student-athletes from the Broncos' men's cross country team and six from women's cross country. The CPP men's soccer and volleyball programs each include four honorees.
