Broncos Challenge Jacks, Coyotes This Week

POMONA, Calif. - Locked in a three-way tie for second place in the conference standings, the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team will host Humboldt State this Friday with a 7:30 p.m. start at Kellogg Gym.

Friday will mark the Broncos' annual Military Appreciation Night. All patrons who present their military I.D., current or expired, will receive free entrance into the game and will be recognized by branch of service. CPP will honor a few service members and the event will feature a halftime service basketball game.

The Broncos sit in second place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) with a 11-4 season tally and a 7-3 mark in conference. HSU owns a 5-5 CCAA record and has secured an 11-5 overall mark.

CPP sits atop the conference leaderboard with the fewest number of points allowed per contest with the opposition averaging 55.8. The stellar Broncos' defense, ranked at No. 1 nationally as well, has limited opponents to 39.7-percent shooting from the field.

Terrence Drisdom is second place on the conference board with an average of 16.3 points per game. He also owns the top spots with 86 field goals and 31 steals in CPP's 15 games thus far. He leads the Broncos with 13 blocks.

Junior Jordan Faison is on Drisdom's tail as he has sank 80 from the field. Daniel Rodriguez has secured the highest shooting percentage for CPP with a .576. Quentin Taylor has recorded 15 three pointers on 39 shots for a team high .385 from beyond the arc. Barry Bell has dished out 43 assists.

After the Jacks come to Kellogg Gym, the Broncos will host Cal State San Bernardino.

CPP and the Coyotes will face off on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the second game of a doubleheader. The matchup will also celebrate Greek Spirit Night for CPP. The event, featuring games and food sales from Greek organizations, is sponsored by Greek Life and Greek Council.
