Broncos Host Coyotes, Wildcats This Week

POMONA, Calif. – Undefeated through the last five matches, the Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team will host two games this week as conference play heats up.

The Broncos stand at 6-1-3 overall and 3-1-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), putting them at sixth in the league standings.

On Wednesday, CPP hosts Cal State San Bernardino on Breast Cancer Awareness Night at Kellogg Field. Then on Friday, the Broncos will battle Chico State during Heroes Night when current and former police, fire and military personnel receive free admission. On Friday, the first 75 fans will receive a free Broncos' water bottle courtesy of CPP University Police and the Veterans Resource Center.
So far this season, the 10th-place Coyotes hold a mark of 3-4-3 overall and 1-2-3 in CCAA play while the eighth-place Wildcats stand at 4-5-2 overall and 2-3-1 in league action.

Broncos' senior goalkeeper Fernando Pablo Quevedo earned the CCAA Player of the Week honor after keeping Cal State East Bay and Stanislaus State scoreless last weekend during the CPP road trip. Pablo Quevedo ranks fifth in the league for goals against average with a mark of 0.88.

Serving as the Host
Cal Poly Pomona will serve as the hosts of the CCAA Soccer Championships coming up in early November. The conference postseason for women's soccer and men's soccer includes the top six teams, with first-round matches between the numbers 3, 4, 5 and 6 seeds to be played at campus sites on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The winners of the first-round matches will face the top two seeds at Kellogg Field at Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, Nov. 6 at 11:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The Championship contests will be played on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Beyond the CCAA Championships
Once the conference postseason wraps up, the NCAA will unveil its tournament field on Monday, Nov. 9. The top six teams from the West Region will advance and the first rankings will be revealed on Wednesday, Oct. 21 on NCAA.com.

The nearest parking lot available to Kellogg Field is Lot B. To get to Lot B, use the following address in Google Maps: "660 Kellogg Drive, Pomona, CA." Turning left into the parking lot, turn left again and follow the road as it curves around toward the east side of Kellogg Field.
