Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

CPP Cruises Past Winona State 77-50, Now 4-0!

POMONA, Calif. – In a stellar display of athletic talent, the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team secured a 77-50 win over the Winona State Warriors on Saturday. The win kept the Broncos undefeated as they now carry a 4-0 record heading into their final week of non-conference play before the 2015-16 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) season.

The Green and Gold sank 31-of-49 shots in the contest and posted a tremendous 63.3% shooting from the field. Leading the way with points for the Broncos, and one of four players with double-digits in the category was Quentin Taylor. With a 7-for-9 tally form the field, the junior added three field goals and registered 17 points in the game, a career high.

CPP has a lot of young talent on the team as well as Jordan Ogundiran, a freshman out of Chatsworth sank 5-of-6 shots from beyond the arc to post 15 total points in the game. Jordan Faison, the CCAA Player of the Week this past week sank 6-of-9 shots to rack up 13 points of his own, and rounding out the double-digit scorers was Barry Bell who added four shots, with a pair of threes, for 10 points to his name.

A team player by definition, Bell also dished out eight assists and recorded five steals in the game to help his teammates reach their 77 point tally. The Broncos also proved their depth in the contest as their bench recorded a total of 28 points.

The matchup started off with a 9-0 run in the Broncos' favor. The Warriors played catch-up the entire game after the first layup by Faison dropped in. In the first half, the Green and Gold posted a stellar 73.91% shooting from the field with 17-of-23 shots falling and 9-of-12 three pointers hitting their mark.

At halftime, the score stood at 46-21 in CPP's favor.

After the break, the Broncos posted 31 points and while the Warriors came up with 29 of their own, the first advantage for the CPP squad proved too much to overcome. The Green and Gold's largest lead came with just over 13 minutes in the second half when they led by 38 points.

With the final point in the game Chris Sullivan added a pair of his six points to give the Broncos their final 77-50 winning score.

CPP will next play The Masters College at their gym in Santa Clarita on Tuesday. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. After that the final non-conference game will be played at Kellogg Arena against Young Harris on Sat, Nov. 28.
