@CPPVB Set To Host Three in Kellogg Arena

POMONA, Calif. - After an extremely successful Coyote Classic last weekend wherein the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team won three of its four matches, the squad will return home to host three teams this week.

The Broncos' first matchup will come against the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Broncos bested the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) rivals in both meetings last season, winning by an overall tally of six sets to one. The all-time meeting between the two squads stands very heavily in the Broncos' favor as the Green and Gold have won 63 of the 70 matchups.

On Thursday night, the Green and Gold will set their sights on the Humboldt State Jacks. In the 2015 preseason poll, HSU was picked to finish fifth overall, one spot ahead of CPP. Last season saw the Jacks come away victorious in both matches of the season, besting the Broncos by an overall tally of 6-2. All-time between the two teams again shows heavily in CPP's favor as the Broncos' squad has won 24 matches while only dropping three.

Free popsicles will go to the first 100 fans in attendance on Thursday. First serve is set for 7 p.m. and will take place in Kellogg Arena.

After the two back-to-back nights, the Green and Gold will take a day off and then return to Kellogg Arena to host the Sonoma State Seawolves. SSU has been picked to finish second in the conference just behind Cal State San Bernardino. The Seawolves bested the Broncos last season in both meetings and won six of the seven sets played. All-time the two teams are evenly matched, as both have won 23 matches.

Thus far this season, the Toros of Dominguez Hills have an overall 2-6 record. Humboldt State has an even 2-2 record and will head to Kellogg Arena after taking on the Cal State San Marcos Cougars Wedsnday. Sonoma State's Seawolves have provided a 4-2 mark on the year. SSU will come to Pomona after first playing Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday.
