Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Broncos Fall 1-0 to UCSD in CCAA Opener

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team dropped their 2015 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) season opener 1-0 to the UC San Diego Tritons on Friday.

The Broncos now hold a 3-1-1 record thus far in the season. The UCSD squad now holds an overall 2-2-2 record in 2015.

It was a strong matchup for the Green and Gold as they held their own through much of the game. They were able to keep the hometown Tritons scoreless until the 58th minute. In that minute a goal by Uly de la Cal lifted the UCSD team to a 1-0 lead.

The CPP squad was able to put together a strong performance in the match despite the loss. They posted 11 total shots and committed just nine fouls to the Tritons' 21.

Christian Gonzalez Diaz and Sergi Monso each registered three shots on the goal. Aaron Macedo posted a pair of shots himself, and Rubik Zazian, Michael Torres, and Eshel Chardon each added one.

The Broncos will continue their roadtrip with game two of their 2015 CCAA play on Sunday. They will head to the campus of Cal State San Marcos as they will play the Cougars.

San Marcos is entering its first season in the CCAA and played their first conference matchup on Friday. They fell to the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes in overtime with a final score of 1-0.

CPP will play its CCAA home opener on Sept. 25 as they host the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros. The 7:00 p.m. game will mark the annual Pack the Stands game for Bronco Athletics.
