Broncos Host Toros for Pack the Stands Night

POMONA, Calif. - Returning to Kellogg Field with a 3-1-2 overall record and a 0-1-1 mark in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play, the Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team will host the No.14 Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros. The game marks the Broncos' annual Pack the Stands night and is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Thus far in 2015, the Toros have posted a 6-1 record complete with a perfect 2-0 mark in conference play.

Last season the two teams met twice and the Green and Gold emerged the victor on both occasions. The first win was a 2-0 win at Kellogg Field on Oct. 5. The second victory was a 2-1 CCAA Championship Semifinal round win for the Broncos at Warrior Stadium in Turlock, Calif.

Taking a look at the all-time series between the two squads, fans will see a decided advantage in the Toros' favor. The Broncos have won a mere 13 games against their CCAA rivals while the Carson locals have topped CPP 39 times. There are also a total of eight ties for the two squads.

After the Pack the Stands game, the Broncos will host the No. 25 Cal State L.A. Golden Eagles. That game will mark the Special Olympics Recognition Game where CPP Athletics recognizes the athletes and participants in the recent Special Olympics Games held in Los Angeles. Kickoff is set for Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Broncos and Golden Eagles met twice last season as well. CPP was also successful in both of those endeavors as they won 1-0 and 2-1, respectively. Sept. 14 saw the Green and Gold best then No. 9 Cal State L.A. 1-0 in overtime at Jesse Owens Field on the LA campus.

Last season's Senior Night on Oct. 30 provided the Broncos with their second victory against the Golden Eagles. Ranked at No. 15 at the time, the LA squad was topped by the Green and Gold 2-1. The match enabled the Broncos to have a first-round bye in the CCAA Championship Tournament.

Cal State LA has secured a 4-0-1 mark thus far this season, complete with a 2-0 mark in CCAA competitions. Their two conference wins were against Sonoma and Humboldt State. Before heading to the CPP campus CSULA will play visitor to the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes on Friday.
