By Aaron Salazar POMONA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball seeks to continue its winning ways as it hits the road for two California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) conference games this week.
The No. 5 Broncos, coming off of wins over the Stanislaus State Warriors and Chico State Wildcats, enter the week owning a record of 14-1 with a 7-1 mark in the CCAA. In their last contest, the Green and Gold secured a 69-56 win over the Wildcats, which marked record-setting win No. 330 for head coach

CPP will travel to Los Angeles this Friday to take on Cal State L.A. at 7:30 p.m. at the Eagles Nest. The Golden Eagles' record currently sits at 1-6 in the CCAA. Overall, the Golden Eagles' record is 2-12.
This will be the second and final regular season meeting between the two teams. In the last meeting between the cross-town rivals, the Green and Gold secured a 65-59 win at Kellogg Arena.
Looking at the all-time series between the Broncos and the Golden Eagles, the CPP squad holds a slight advantage, winning 59 games to CSULA's 51.
Looking beyond Friday night's contest, the Broncos will travel to Carson to take on the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Toros' record currently sits at 7-8 overall with a 1-6 record in CCAA play.
CPP defeated the Toros 85-53 on Dec. 5 and are currently on a seven-game winning streak over CSUDH, which dates back to the 2011-12 season. Of the 79 meetings between the SoCal rivals, the Green and Gold have secured wins in 43 of them.
With a No. 1 ranking in defense, the Broncos are currently outscoring opponents by 14.6 points through the first 15 games. The offense is led by senior forward
Jordan Faison. Faison has averaged 18.3 points per game this season and is shooting .601 from the field.
Senior guard
Barry Bell continues to lead the top-ranked defense in steals with 26 on the year. Bell also leads the Broncos in minutes played, averaging 31.5 a game, and assists with an average of 3.5 per contest and 52 on the season.
The Toros will host CPP after defending the Torodome from the Jacks of Humboldt State on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.
After the two-game road trip, the Broncos will return to Kellogg Arena for three CCAA matchups. CPP will challenge the Humboldt State Jacks on Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m. and the Coyotes of Cal State San Bernardino on Jan. 28 at 7:30. The Jan. 28 contest marks the annual "Pack the Stands" game. Then on Jan. 30, the Broncos will take on UC San Diego. At this point, CPP and the Tritons are tied for first place atop the conference standings.
