Broncos Earn 1-0 Shutout Over Toros Sunday

CARSON, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills 1-0 on Sunday as the Broncos got a second-half goal from Lauren Miller

The Broncos' defense limited the Toros to just four shots to post the shutout. CPP continues to battle for a playoff spot and only two regular season games are left. At 6-3-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), the Broncos have moved up to No. 4 in the conference standings. The top six squads will advance to the CCAA Tournament.

CPP rallied for the lone goal of Sunday's match in the 58th minute. From the right post, Hailey James sent a cross into the center of the box. From there, Lauren Miller knocked the ball into the left side of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 edge.

In total, the Broncos outshot the Toros 16-4. In net for CPP, Ricki Ives collected two saves.

CPP returns to action on Thursday with a 12:30 p.m. home game against Cal State San Marcos. The first 80 students arriving to the doubleheader start will receive a free phone wallet courtesy of Student Health and Counseling Services.
