LOS ANGELES - Three members of the Cal Poly Pomona women's track and field team competed Thursday on the first day of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships hosted by Cal State LA.
Tiffany Tate earned All-CCAA marks as she finished second in the javelin. Her distance of 47.23 meters was a personal best and it landed her at fifth in the Cal Poly Pomona women's track and field record books for that event. Tate is the first female CPP student-athlete to earn a mark in the javelin top-five since 1988.
Also competing in the javelin was
Deirdre Mercado. She placed at No. 13 as she threw for a distance of 31.87 meters.
The only other event that the Broncos had a competitor in was the hammer throw.
Nina Pritchett placed 10th in the event as she secured a distance of 42.37 meters. It was the senior's second-best throw all-time.
