Women's Basketball Hands Concordia (Calif.) 65-45 Loss at Kellogg

POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team picked up their second consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating Concordia (Calif.) 65-45 at Kellogg Arena.

The Broncos improve to 3-3 overall on the season as they finish positive in their non-conference schedule, going 3-2 overall.

Priscilla Brooks led the Broncos, recording her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. A Bronco has now recorded a double-double in 50 percent of the games this season.

The Broncos opened up the scoring with a three-pointer by Alyssa Benton and never looked back, holding on to the lead for the remainder of the game.

After a layup by Chelsea Waddy-Blow in the final seconds of the first quarter, CPP took a 16-9 lead after the opening period.

Jackie Ricketson added 10 points of her own while Adaora Obi finished with nine points and Waddy-Blow totaled eight points and eight rebounds.

CPP added to their lead in the second quarter, taking a 34-20 lead into the halftime break.

The Broncos held Concordia to 33 percent from the field while shooting 39 percent, and out-rebounded the Eagles 48-29.

In the second half, the Broncos took their first 20-point lead with 4:28 left to play in the third quarter after Jordyn Shane converted an and-one to go up 46-26. She finished with seven points and three steals.

Also tallying seven points was Benton while Dominique Dotson finished with six points, all from the free throw line as she went 6-for-6.

CPP took their largest lead of the night with just over four minutes to play as Ricketson hit a jumper to go up 62-37.

The Broncos recorded 17 points off turnovers while also converting 20 second-chance points on the day.

CPP continues their homestand as they host Chico State on Friday, Dec. 1 and Humboldt State on Saturday, Dec. 2 to open their home CCAA schedule.
