POMONA, Calif. – Continuing their battle with the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) North Division, the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team returns to Scolinos Field as they prepare to take on Stanislaus State in a three-game series starting Saturday.
Last weeks series against 13
th-ranked Chico State, the Broncos dropped their first two games before winning the third game after
Daniel Pitts hit two home runs, including an eighth–inning grand slam to beat the Wildcats 8-7.
CPP currently sits in second place in the CCAA South standings with a record of 14-12 overall, and 10-5 in conference play.
Highlights: After totaling three home runs and seven RBIs against Chico, Pitts earned CCAA Baseball Player of the Week honors and went on to be named the NCBWA West Region Player of the week. He is now tied with a team-high 21 RBIs, leads with five home runs and is batting .348 on the season.

Jason Padlo holds the team's highest batting average at .389 and
Chris Stratton leads in hits (33), runs (27) and stolen bases (11).
On the mound,
Wyatt Shackleford and
Jeff Bain own the lowest ERAs at 2.70 and 2.86 respectively. Bain also leads the Broncos in strikeouts with 43 while
Henry Omana follows with 41 strikeouts.
As a team, the Broncos lead the CCAA in batting average with a combined mark of .303. They ranked ninth in the latest NCAA West Region rankings in which six CCAA schools landed in the top 10.

-The Warriors enter the weekend with a record of 17-9 overall, going 7-8 in the CCAA.
-Stanislaus State sits in fourth place in the CCAA North standings after being selected to finish fifth in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.

-Stanislaus has won five of their last seven games and is coming off a series win over CSU Dominguez Hills.
