AZUSA, Calif. – Two wins and surviving three other teams in the CCAA conference tournament was enough to keep the season alive for the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team as they received their fourth straight bid to the NCAA West Regional set to begin Thursday.
 
The Broncos hold the sixth seed in the tournament and open up play against a familiar foe in top-seeded Chico State at 3 p.m. This marks the fifth time this season the Broncos will clash with the Wildcats, who have won three games against CPP including an 8-7 win in extra innings on day two of the CCAA tournament.
 
Despite three losses, the Broncos remain confident heading into the tournament. CPP has held a lead over Chico State in three of the four games this season while three of the games have also come down to only a one run difference.
 
Against Chico State this season, Daniel Pitts has posted a .438 batting average with seven hits, seven RBIs and three homeruns. Also have strong performances against the Wildcats are Frankie Nogales with a batting average of .412 and Jeff Bain with an ERA of 2.57.
