POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team was well represented in the California Collegiate Athletic Association postseason awards as 10 players were named to the 2017 All-Conference list, the league office announced Tuesday.
Three Broncos were selected All-CCAA First-team in
Jeff Bain,
Cody Martin and
Daniel Pitts. Bain, a junior pitcher from Pasadena, Calif., finished the regular season as the league's strikeout leader with 80, finishing the year with a record of 8-2.
Martin, a junior catcher from Murrieta, Calif., started in 44 games this season behind the plate while earning a batting average .358 with 62 hits and 23 RBIs.
A native on Lancaster Calif., Pitts earned First-Team honors in the outfield with a fielding percentage of .989, a batting average of .376 and a team-high 44 RBIs, the fifth highest total in the CCAA.

Nic Hernandez, shortstop
Chris Stratton, third baseman
Jason Padlo and designated hitter
Frankie Nogales.
Spending time at both first base and left field this season,
Brennan McKenzie was selected as an Honorable Mention while also being named the CCAA 2017 Freshman of the Year. McKenzie finished with a .318 batting average and was second on the team in RBIs with 37.
Also earning Honorable Mention was pitcher
Kyle Dohy.
The Broncos, who finished with a regular season record of 31-18 overall, 27-11 CCAA and the South Division title, kick off the conference tournament on Wednesday against Cal State Monterey Bay at 3 p.m.
