Bain and Dohy Selected in the 16th Round of the MLB Draft

POMONA, Calif. –  It was back-to-back picks for the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team in the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft as pitching duo Jeff Bain and Kyle Dohy were selected in the 16th round on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Bain, a righty from Pasadena, Calif., was taken with the 472nd pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks while Dohy, a left hander from Covina, Calif., went to the Philadelphia Phillies in the very next pick.
 
Bain led the Broncos with an 8-2 record, tossing 111 innings with a 3.57 ERA. He also led the California Collegiate Athletic Association with 94 total strikeouts. Bain was selected to the All- CCAA First-Team and earned West Region Pitcher of the Week during the season.
 
Finishing 6-3 overall, Dohy ranked third in the CCAA in strikeouts with 89, throwing only 79.2 innings. Dohy was named an All-CCAA Honorable Mention at the conclusion of the 2017 regular season.
 
The Broncos finished as the top team in the CCAA South Division and advanced to the NCAA Division II West Region Tournament.
