OFFICIAL RESULTS
BILLINGS, Mont. -- Anahi Betart crossed the line in a time of 22:17.04 to finish in 41st place, pacing the Cal Poly Pomona women's cross country team to a 13th place finish out of 26 teams at the 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country West Regional Championship Meet on Saturday in a chilly Billings, Mont.
Betart was just six seconds off her career-best in a six-kilometer race to finish as the top runner for CPP for the third time this fall. She was trailed by
Elizabeth Hernandez, who placed 68th with a time of 22:37.08, and
Sierra Boyd, who came in 70th after crossing the line in 22:38.64.
Elli Kliewer (22:50.80) took 83rd,
Samantha Aguilar (23:04.26) placed 89th,
Jennifer Osorio-Melendez (23:19.61) came in 109th, and
Luz Garcia (23:53.76) was the 131st runner out of 180 to cross the line.
As a team, the Broncos scored a 345. Alaska Anchorage took home the team title with 66 points, followed by Simon Fraser in second with 85 points and Chico State in third with 88. Those teams earn the region's automatic bid into the 2018 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship Meet on December 1st in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Ten other teams and up to 24 individuals not with an advancing team from around the country will earn an at-large bid to compete in Pittsburgh in two weeks, and the NCAA will make that announcement Monday at 2:00 pm PT.
