POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team will venture out for their first meeting with the Northern schools as they travel to face San Francisco State in a four-game series on the road beginning Friday.

Last Week: The Broncos (12-10, 9-7 CCAA) bounced back, sweeping all four games against Cal State San Bernardino as they totaled 44 runs against the Coyotes.
Drew Cowley batted .643 in the series, tallying four RBIs and five walks as he was named the CCAA Player of the Week and the NCBWA West Region Player of the Week.
By the Numbers: CPP leads in the conference in team batting average, hitting .305 on the season. The Broncos are third overall in runs scored with 134 and have tallied the second most hits with 226. As a pitching staff, the Broncos rank third in ERA at 3.68 and combined for the second most strikeouts in the CCAA at 202.
As a true freshman,
Cesar Lopez is leading the Broncos at the plate with a batting average of .381, tallying seven extra-base hits including two home runs.
Cody Martin is first in RBIs with 16 while Cowley is second with 14 and
Brennan McKenzie and
Jacob Bernardy are tied with 13.
Ryan Alsworth has been the top performer from the mound, holding a team-high three wins and a low ERA of 1.85. He also leads in strikeouts with 37, fifth most in the CCAA.
Gator Report: San Francisco has had a down start to their season, sitting second to last in the league standings with an overall record of 6-15, going 6-10 in league play. The Gators rank last in the CCAA in batting average .253 and eighth in ERA with a mark of 4.30. SFSU is also last in fielding percentage at .943, committing 42 errors so far this season.
