SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Led by
Elizabeth Hernandez and
Anahi Betart, the 14th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona women's cross country team took fifth out of 20 teams at the Coyote Challenge hosted by Cal State San Bernardino Saturday morning on the CSUSB campus.
Hernandez took 25th out of 212 runners, running the five-kilometer course in 18:35.6, crossing the line just two-tenths of a second in front of Betart, who placed 26th (18:35.8).
As a team, the Broncos scored a 165. Cal State San Marcos won the team title with 68 points, edging runner-up Claremont-Mudd-Scripps by six points. UC San Diego (82) and Cal State San Bernardino (149) came in third and fourth, respectively.
Luz Garcia placed 34th in a time of 18:47.1,
Sierra Boyd (18:55.2) was 38th,
Jennifer Osorio-Melendez (19:00.7) was 42nd,
Samantha Aguilar (19:06.2) finished 49th,
Amy Kohlbrenner (19:43.8) was 84th and
Taylor Otto (20:10.2) was 105th.
Cal Poly Pomona will head north to Sacramento next Saturday to compete in the Capital Cross Challenge hosted by Sacramento State.
