Broncos' Undefeated Streak Ends in 4-1 Loss Sunday

Box Score | TURLOCK, Calif. – Despite just one goal separating Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Stanislaus at halftime Sunday, the Warriors broke the game wide open with three second-half scores to take a 4-1 victory.

Three-time All-American Karenee Demery led the Stanislaus offense with two goals, raising her season total to a league-best 12.

The Warriors - ranked ninth nationally - remain undefeated at 9-0-1 overall and 7-0-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). This marks the midway point of the regular season and with a bit of help Sunday from other teams around the league, the Broncos remain in second place in the South Division.

At 5-3-2 overall and 3-3-2 in conference play, CPP has 11 points to stay ahead of Cal State Dominguez Hills (10 points) and UC San Diego (9) following closely behind. Cal State San Bernardino is first in the South with 19 points at 6-1-1.

Stanislaus outshot the Broncos 14-11 on Sunday and just three of CPP's attempts landed on target. With the Warriors leading 3-0 in the second half, the Broncos got on the board in the 78th minute.

An errant pass from Stanislaus was intercepted by junior Indra Arteaga, who dribbled through traffic and lined a shot over a defender and the goalkeeper to trim the margin to 3-1. For Arteaga, a transfer from Evergreen Valley College, it marks the first goal of her Bronco career.

CPP will return to action on Friday with a 4:30 p.m. home game against Chico State. Seven of the Broncos' final eight regular season games will be played at Kellogg Field.
