Tiffany Dinh Earns Academic All-District Recognition

Tiffany Dinh will graduate from Cal Poly Pomona in June with a degree in Business Administration.

POMONA, Calif. - Tiffany Dinh of the Cal Poly Pomona women's track and field team has earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District Team, officials announced last week.

A senior from Norwalk, Dinh made five appearance at the NCAA Division II National Championships while competing in her two sports of cross country and track and field. Last fall, Dinh became just the second two-time All-American in the history of Cal Poly Pomona women's cross country.

She's also excelled in the classroom throughout her CPP career, earning California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic honors on three occassions while maintaining a grade point average above 3.40. Last week's Capital One Academic All-District announcement marks the second time that Dinh has been recognized with that achievement.

In early May, Dinh received All-West Region track and field honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the second time in her career. To qualify for nationals, Dinh shattered the Broncos' program record in the 10,000-meter with a time of 35:00.56 at the Mt. SAC Relays in April. She finished ninth overall at the D-II National Championships in Pueblo, Colo., last month.

Dinh received the Cal Poly Pomona Female Athlete of the Year award in May for the second-straight year and through her Bronco career, she's compiled a GPA of 3.63 as a Business Administration major with a Management and Human Resources option.

In the vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Dinh was one of four CCAA student-athletes named to the 12-person Academic All-District Team for the West Region.

One of Dinh's teammates on the men's side, nationals competitor Justin Ellerbee, also received Academic All-District honors.

Student-athletes must be in at least their second season, hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 and be an important contributor to be eligible for the Capital One Academic All-District teams.

The Broncos' men's and women's track and field teams enjoyed a tremendously successful 2013 campaign, finishing second and third respectively at the CCAA Championships and qualifying eight student-athletes into nationals.
