@CPPVB Looks To Down No. 22 Coyotes At Home

By: Aaron Salazar

POMONA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team returns home on Thursday night to take on the nationally ranked Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes at 7 p.m in the annual "Make-A-Wish" match. Free hotdogs will be given out to the first 50 CPP students in attendance.

The Make-A-Wish foundation is dedicated to granting the wishes of young children who face life-threatening illnesses.

The Green and Gold enter the match with a 7-3 record in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play. They are 11-7 overall. The No. 22 Coyotes come into the match with an 8-2 record in the CCAA. They are 15-3 overall on the year.

The Broncos have been tough to beat at home this year, holding a record of 4-1 at Kellogg Arena. This will be the first of two matches the two teams will play against each other this year.

Last year, the Broncos defeated the nationally ranked CSUSB in both of their matches. They defeated the Coyotes 3-2 in San Bernardino and 3-2 again at Kellogg Arena.

After Thursday's match against the Coyotes, the Broncos will remain at home to take on the UC San Diego Tritons at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The Tritons' record currently sits at 5-5 in CCAA play and 9-9 overall. The meeting will be the second match the two teams will play this year. Earlier in the season, CPP stunned the Tritons on Oct. 6 with a 3-2 comeback victory in La Jolla.

Next week, the Broncos will remain at home with matches against Cal State East Bay and the San Francisco State Gators. The Green and Gold will take on the Pioneers in the "Breast Cancer Awareness" match on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. The homestand will end on Oct. 24 against the Gators in the "Special Olympics Recognition Night" match at 7 p.m.
