Men's Soccer Aims to Continue Historic Run

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – After securing its first-ever NCAA Tournament win last week at home, the Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team will look to continue its historic run Friday as it takes on Cal State Dominguez Hills in the West Region title matchup.

Although 44 miles are all that separate Pomona from Carson, the Broncos and Toros are meeting Friday in the Texas town of Wichita Falls. There, Midwestern State is the host of this weekend's matches.

After CPP and Dominguez Hills play at 2 p.m. Pacific (4 p.m. Central), the two remaining South Central squads – Colorado Mines and Midwestern State – will battle for their regional crown. The two winners will meet on Sunday at 11 a.m. Pacific (1 p.m. Central).

The Broncos have managed a home record of 18-0-1 through the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Now, CPP will look to showcase their abilities in Texas. Live video and stats for Friday's contest will be available at portal.stretchinternet.com/msu.
Friday's matchup will be the second meeting between the Broncos and Toros this season. On Sept. 25 at Kellogg Field, Dominguez Hills jumped out to a 2-1 lead before Christian Gonzalez Diaz scored the equalizer in the 52nd minute as the game finished in a draw.

Now in his third season as head coach for CPP, Yossi Raz owns a 3-0-2 record against the Toros. Entering the NCAA Division II Tournament as the No. 3 seed in the West Region, Dominguez Hills defeated Fresno Pacific in the first round before advancing past Seattle Pacific in penalty kicks during the second round.

The Friday afternoon forecast for Wichita Falls calls for temperatures in the high 60s with clear skies. The winner of the West Region title will face a clearer bracket as only 16 teams will remain in the NCAA Tournament field.
