WALNUT & AZUSA, Calif. – In a busy end of the week for the Cal Poly Pomona women's track and field team, the Broncos continued to elevate their performances as the postseason quickly approaches.
Competing at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut and the Bryan Clay Invite in Azusa, the local competition brought out the best in CPP.
Late Thursday night,
Regina Lopez put together an impressive performance in the 10,000-meter event as she recorded a 36:04.87 mark to put her at No. 3 all-time in the school record book. Entering this week, that time would have put her at No. 12 nationally for Division II this season.
Mariah Richards-Maynard improved her 100-meter hurdles time, crossing the line in 14.67 at the Bryan Clay Invite. The Broncos' hurdling success continued in the 400-meter distance as
Sarah Regan placed sixth overall with a time of 1:02.18.
Jessica Giacoletti performed well in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-6 to finish in a tie for eighth place in Azusa.
The Broncos will conclude their regular season on April 24 and April 25 at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla. The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Track & Field Championships will be held April 30 to May 2 at San Francisco State.
