Broncos' Volleyball Releases 2015 Schedule

POMONA, Calif. – With a three-win improvement between 2013 and 2014, the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team is ready to get back into the action in the upcoming 2015 season.

Head coach Rosie Wegrich announced the schedule for 2015 on Wednesday and it includes the Broncos' first four matches at Alaska Anchorage as a part of the SpringHill Suites Invitational.

CPP will kick things off in Alaska against the Rockhurst Hawks, a team that plays out of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Green and Gold will have four matches in their opening tournament and will play their first match on Sept. 4.

The Broncos will return home from Alaska and head to local rival, Cal State San Bernardino, where they will participate in the CSUSB Coyote Classic. They will play four teams in that tournament as well, kicking things off on Sept. 11.

Following the Coyote Classic, the Broncos will host both their first home match and their California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opener on Wednesday, Sept. 16 against the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros.

In the first week of conference play, the Broncos will play three matches. They play that first match against the Toros, then Thursday will play the Humboldt State Jacks. Come Saturday Sept. 19, the Green and Gold will face off against the defending CCAA and West Region champions, the Sonoma State Seawolves.

The Broncos have 14 matches in September, with four taking place in Kellogg Arena. October will bring 10 matches for CPP, while in November, the Broncos will play their final four regular season matches.

Senior Night will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 11 as the Broncos host the Cal State L.A. Golden Eagles. First serve on that day is set for 7 p.m., which will be the standard start time for all but one of the Broncos' CCAA matches. The exception to that is a 1 p.m. match against Cal State Monterey Bay on Sept. 26.

The Broncos' 2015 roster will include nine returners from the 2014 season. The roster will include four seniors, two juniors, four sophomores and three freshmen. Among the returners are Alexa Hasen, Nicoletta Stork, and Deanna Blaine, who all received All-CCAA honors for their 2014 performances.
